Grumpy Design: A gambling moneypit.

Mon Dec 11, 2017 9:45 am
Dear gameloft,

I've expressed my concerns about the design to get grumpy over the weekend in a thread in General Discussion. Which design is basically the same as the star wars lootcrates that got heavily criticized.

viewtopic.php?f=2120&t=566722

Over the weekend MANY people have voiced their concerns with reactions on facebookposts and on this forum as well. So my questions are: Will you be listening to your customers and come with a reaction to this? Is my concern here clear or do i need to file an official ticket also explaining this complaint?

Kind Regards.

The chances of the Grumpy design actually changing before the event is over are slim to none and slim just left town. They may make adjustments for future events based on player feedback but unfortunately they're going to ride this out for the duration of the current event. I'd say go ahead and try voicing your concerns through a ticket but I'm fairly certain that won't elicit the response that you really want. Grumpy cost me roughly 800 gems so I'm not terribly happy about it myself for what it's worth.

Of course i know chances for change before the event is over are small. It doesn't mean a paying customer should at least recieve a reply. 'We have heard your concerns and are looking for a solution' is all that's needed to at least comfort some of us right now. I would say this is the basis of customerservice. And so far gameloft has been terrible at it. No response whatsoever since friday. Just silence. And i know they've been reading this posts.

And this shouldn't stray us from the main issue: Getting grumpy is pure gambling. If we are in las vegas or a casino with consented adults, it's one thing. This is a game targeted at kids! You should not be promoting gambling in this way, tricking people into thinking they can get him for free with premiumcharacters and 12h quests(that will hardly be of any help before the event is over). Then forcing them to spend a lot of money for a CHANCE!! at getting grumpy (Like the star wars lootcrates). Taking advantage of this being a collection game, in which no one will be happy unless he/she has all characters. There are people that will start gambling for grumpy and it makes me sad, this is a kids game!! :o
This is taking their businessmodel to a very foul level and should deserve a harsh reaction by the community. There's just no excuse for this.

I'm still waiting from an answer from a DMK community manager.

Seriously? My thread was moved from bugs and issues to general messages? Without a reply. Are you kidding me here?

I'm asking:

Can i get a reply on the concerns about grumpy, or do i need to file an official ticket? THIS IS MY ISSUE.

Incredible customerservice...  I'll just file a ticket then.

The only issue with Grumpy is the butthurt it's caused among the players.  It's the way they designed him.  No, we don't have to be happy about it.  But it's not a game issue.

ugh it's making me sick. My whole being feels like i should not cave and pay a lot to gamble on grumpy.

My whole other side wants to complete this collection and get him.

This is so unfair. Right now i can still hold myself together and stick to my principles here, at least till i get a response. You would think a customer service cannot completely ignore posts and at least give a reaction that they have READ what you have typed.

Im waiting a bit more.

Gabriel is responding to people like crazy over in the bugs forum, so you can rest assured that he has read everything you've posted on this, and has deliberately not responded to you. There must be half a dozen grumpy-related threads now, and no GL folks have commented in any of them.

It's been 4 days since this started - don't hold your breath waiting for an answer from them.

As for customer care, they're just going to copy/paste some drivel to you that doesn't answer your question and only makes you angrier, so don't put your hope eggs in that basket either.

They've put themselves in another jam as well.

If they change the requirements for Grumpy now that several people, including myself, have welcomed them, they would then have an obligation to compensate us.

I do not foresee them changing Grumpy at all, but possibly changing golden character unlocks in the future. I would say there is no point waiting. As Grumpy helps with nearly everything in this event, welcome him ASAP if you plan to at all.

Worst case scenario, any future magical chests can simply be used to level him further. He doesn't even need any hats or owls until level 3. Level 2 costs a single apple.

Agreed. This thread didnt get moved out of itself, so i am sure it has been read. Still, copying a standard answer is the least you expect from a business that takes it customers seriously. I would not be complaining if i had at least recieved a response saying they've read the comments.
Right now it feels like they will just avoid any serious criticism and keep taking the game in a way a lot of people do not approve on. Which is a big shame to me. The silence is deafening.
