I'm at level 40 and have a limit of 39 habitats, dragon limit will be however many habitats you have plus however many dragons each habitat can hold
A fully levelled habitat can hold 3 dragons, except Legendary habitats which can hold 2 dragons

Your maximum limit on dragons right now is 147. (You're always one behind your level in Habitat Capacity, so unless something changes at Level 50 you'll have 49 Habitats. 49x3=147.)

And the number is actually smaller than that - if you want any Legendary dragons, you need a Legendary habitat. Those can't be leveled up, so are limited to two Dragons per Habitat. There are already at least thirteen known Legendary dragons, so you need a minimum of seven Legendary Habitats, probably more.

Likewise, there are a dozen "boss dragons." Not only would you need to be made of money to have the Gems to buy them all, each Boss Habitat can only hold ONE Dragon. So if you have all the Boss Dragons, you'd only have 37 free Habitats, or 111 Dragons. (That number gets dropped down to 104 if seven of them are Legendary Habitats.)

Not counting the Boss Dragons, there are ALREADY at least 98 confirmed dragons that have been sighted:

Wondering how many times do I have to level up a habitat before I can place three dragons?

At Level 1, a Habitat can support one Dragon.
(The exception is the Legendary Habitat, it only has one level, which supports two Dragons.)
At Levels 2-4, a Habitat can support two Dragons.
At Levels 5-6, a Habitat can support three Dragons.

So you need to level up to 5.
Keep in mind, the Habitat gets larger at Level 5 and will use up more Island space.

Thanks for the info Mr dragon Lord level forty!!! On a unrelated question... I have been trying to get a coral dragon and all research says the best bet is candy dragon first on left and armor dragon (uncommon) or metal dragon on right when breeding. Tried doZens of times with others and no luck...everyone else says candy and armor or metal. My dragons are level 10. Sound correct or should I shoot for another combo? Please let me know what you think
