Troubleshooting: Connection Issue

Wed Dec 17, 2014 2:28 am
Content:

1/ Server Status
2/ Cache Renewal (Device and Router)
3/ Firewall Configuration
4/ VPN, Proxy, Port Forwarding and Private Network Issues
5/ Connection Stability
6/ DNS Configuration

1. Server Status

Firstly before moving to any of the below steps, please make sure that the Order and Chaos Online servers are up an running. Momentarily there are no options to directly view the server status, to resolve that this thread will remain open and hopefully in a mannered fashion the Status will be posted by our fellow Community Members, also news will be posted in the <a href="http://www.gameloft.com/?request=forum&url=forumdisplay.php%3F1746-Server-Status">Server Status</a> category.

2. Cache Renewal (Device and Router)

An often encountered issue is that of a crowded cache, that of the client or the router.

a/ To renew the client cache, you will have to fully restart the application.

iOS: Hold the home button and kill the application.
Android: Double tap the home button and kill the application from the task manager.
Windows: Restart your device. (Windows does not fully clear it's cache unless the device is restarted)

b/ To renew the router cache, unplug the power cord of the router and plug it back after waiting for 5 seconds.

3. Firewall Configuration

Caution: It is not recommended to fully disable your Firewall as it might put your Device/Router security at risk, use this as a last resort.

a/ Make sure that the Firewall permits outgoing connections.

b/ Keep your firewall up-to-date. Firewall manufacturers add harmless application automatically. It is possible that an outdated firewall might not have these exceptions applied.

c/ Turn off your firewall:

Device firewall applications can be easily uninstalled. You can uninstall these application an re-install and configure them to properly allow network traffic.

Router Firewall (NOT RECOMMENDED)

You can disable the Router firewall by accessing your router configuration page. To do so open a browser and enter the Default Gateway (If this was not modified it should be the following: 192.168.0.1, however make sure to check the manual that was provided with the router as the address might differ) there you will find the configuration page and can disable the firewall.
This is not recommended as it would leave you router vulnerable to malicious scripts and software, please see Port Forwarding at point 4/b for a safer method.

4. VPN and Proxy usage, Port Forwarding and Private Network Issues

a/ VPN and Proxy usage

Please avoid using VPN or Proxies to connect to Order and Chaos Online, the number of issues they could cause are impossible to detect and resolve as they usually contain unsupported rerouting. If the motive you are using a VPN or Proxy is because of a restricted network, please instead try one of the below methods.

b/ Port Forwarding

Go to your routers Configuration page (see 3c for details) and search for one of the following: Port Forwarding, Virtual Servers, NAT or Applications
Now create an entry for each of the following ports:

*details will be added shortly*

c/ Private Network Issues

If you are connecting to Order and Chaos Online from a restricted network, such as that of a college campus or work office, you will need to ask your network administrator to forward and lift the restrictions to the above ports.

5. Connection Stability

Check if your Internet connection is having Data Packets lost or a High Buffering (please note that some applications like Whatsapp, Facebook Messenger, Skype, etc. can also increase your buffering rate), to do so use an application such as: http://netalyzr.icsi.berkeley.edu/ or any of the various applications that are available on the Market.
If the tests show an unstable connection, please consider contacting your Internet Service Provider, to resolve such issues.

6. DNS Configuration

Caution: Some Networks require specified configuration to function properly, in case you are required to use such a configuration you can revert the changes back after successfully connecting to Order and Chaos Online once.

Order and Chaos Online server aliases might have issues connecting to the Domain Name System(DNS) resolver of your Internet Service Provider(ISP).
You can modify the DNS to one of the following Public ones provided by Google: https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/
8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

a/ For Android and iOS devices you can set a custom DNS server, but this will only apply to the current (single) network.

For Android:

Open the Settings on the device.
Select "Wi-Fi".
Long press your current network, then select "Modify Network config".
Tick the "Show advanced options" check box.
Change "IP settings" to "Static".
Add the DNS servers IPs to "DNS 1" and "DNS 2" fields.
Save and reconnect to the network.

For iOS:

(No idea will have to check on an iOS device, will add soon)

b/ If you have access to the routers Configuration Page (see 3C for details): Go to the DNS settings, there under WAN setting you will find Preferred DNS and Alternate boxes, modify and apply. Afterwards Save and Restart your router.

If none of the above steps has resolved your issue or you require more information please contact our Customer Care.
Best Regards.

Honestly costumer care is a joke, and with all the problems ATM at login stage its safe to assume costumer care also has a lot on its hands... Its slow at the best of times. All we need is an admin to respond to us and tell when these login issues will be solved (this will stop spam emails on error 110 issues and quickly resolve the situation). Thanks

I recently downloaded the windows 10version, only issue is I lose connection whenever I try to spawn in a character. I've tried reseting it, restarting my laptop, and reseting the app. Nothing has yet to work.
